"We don’t yet know all the details at this moment,” the president continued. “We will share them as we get them. What we do know is that a number of American soldiers have been killed and even more have been wounded in a horrific outburst of violence.”
“My immediate thoughts and prayers are with the wounded and with the families of the fallen and those who live and serve at Ft. Hood,”...These are men and women who have made the selfless and courageous decision to risk and at times give their lives to protect the rest of us on a daily basis."

Mr. President, I couldn't agree with you more. Imagine, young men fresh out of high school, signing up to serve their country in a war torn land far away, only to be slaughtered by a comrade before they even leave American soil. They were already in a theater of war, they just didn't know it.
My heart goes out to the families of those twelve people who lost their lives, and to the folks who were injured. Who knows what went on in the mind of Maj.Malik Nadal Hasan. -Get used to that name, you will be hearing it a lot over the next few days.- A Jihadist? (As some are already suggesting.) Emotional problems? (The guy is a psychiatrist, so that would be the bitterest of ironies.) Or just a stressed out soldier with deeper personal problems? (We have been down that road before as well.) I don't know, but hopefully we will all know soon enough. The president himself is promising to give us answers, and they better be sooner rather than later. If not, I am sure that the crazies will be all too willing to make up some answers for us.
"There is no greater honor, but also no greater responsibility, than for me to make sure that the extraordinary men and women in uniform are properly cared for,'' ...We are going to stay on this.''
Mr. President, you don't have a choice.
